Soils Concentration Limits

Ecowaste has established the following concentration limits for Industrial Grade Fill Soils. All limits are expressed as µg/g on a dry weight basis (µg/g = mg/kg or ppm).  Please note the elements below with a pH reference are pH dependent.

For contaminants not listed in the tables below, please refer to the B.C Contaminated Sites Regulation Stage 11 Amendment: Schedule 3.1 Part 1, Column 9: Part 2, Column 10; and Part 3, Column 10.

Waste Soils

Waste Soils accepted by Ecowaste must not be Special Wastes.  Acceptable waste soil generally has a minimum number (1 – 3) of substances exceeding the Ecowaste Industrial Limit. The average for any substance is normally not more than twice the Ecowaste Industrial Limit, with no single value more than 5 times the Ecowaste Industrial Limit. These are guidelines only as the acceptance of any soil will be established by Ecowaste on site-by-site basis and based on operational capabilities.

Waste soil containing remediable hydrocarbons will not be accepted until the hydrocarbon levels are reduced to below the Ecowaste Industrial Limit.
