As a trusted partner in the disposal, management, and recycling of construction and demolition (C&D) materials, Ecowaste has been an integral part of Metro Vancouver for over 50 years. Through evolving diversion and recycling practices that incorporate emerging solutions, we foster strong community partnerships and long-term environmental benefits to support a sustainable future.
Ecowaste is a Canadian-owned recycling and waste services company committed to making a positive impact on the communities we call home. From 1971-1986, we operated a municipal solid waste landfill in Richmond on 150 acres of land owned by the Fraser River Harbour Commission (FRHC). As this site filled, we purchased 150 acres next to the FRHC site to become our current landfill for construction, demolition, and excavation materials. Today, we focus on diverting C&D waste, reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and converting waste into new materials.
We’re more than just a business; we’re neighbours and long-standing members of the Richmond community and beyond. That’s why we actively minimize our environmental impact, support local charities, and support initiatives that contribute to the well-being of our local communities. Because when you’re part of the community, you should do your part to make it the best it can be.
If there’s one thing we’ve learned in the past half-century, it’s that waste can be redirected from landfills to more sustainable channels like recycling or composting. By turning today’s waste into tomorrow’s opportunity, we promote a circular economy that enhances local development projects and strengthens environmental stewardship. Whether it’s turning yard waste into compost, breaking concrete into aggregates, or recycling wood biomass from C&D into alternative fuels, we are aligned with the City of Richmond and British Columbia’s climate and sustainability targets to significantly reduce waste and carbon emissions.
Environmental sustainability and safety drive our decisions and directions at Ecowaste. Through our commitment to stewardship, maintenance of rigorous safety standards, and continuous investment in green technologies, we consistently put in the effort to protect our people and the planet.
