The Ecowaste Story
Rooted in Richmond
Since day one, we’ve proudly grown alongside the City of Richmond as a community partner aligned with their environmental goals. Our journey started in 1971 as a Canadian-owned, privately held company managing municipal solid waste on a 150-acre lot owned by the Fraser River Harbour Commission (FRHC). In 1986, we purchased 150 acres next to the FRHC site and redirected our focus to construction and demolition (C&D) waste diversion, recycling, and solutions. Since then, we’ve been an indispensable partner for builders, contractors, and Richmond residents, championing sustainable solutions that benefit construction and our communities.

Our Core Values
At Ecowaste, our values guide our operations and inspire us to make a difference. They help us turn waste challenges into sustainable solutions, making our community and construction sites across the Lower Mainland better every day.
Safety
Protecting our people, our customers, and our community through rigorous safety standards and proactive practices.
Sustainability
Reducing our environmental impact through innovative practices that repurpose waste into valuable resources.
Collaboration
Working closely with our clients, partners, and the City of Richmond to achieve shared goals and continuously improve.
Community
Supporting our community and enriching the lives of those within it through donations, initiatives, and partnerships.

Our Vision
Ecowaste aims to optimize C&D waste diversion through innovative recycling technology and modern practices that align with provincial and municipal sustainability goals. We support Metro Vancouver and the Provincial Government’s sustainability objectives by:
- Maximizing reuse, recycling, and recovery of C&D materials.
- Reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
- Developing advanced recycling technologies and processes.
- Creating carbon-neutral fuel alternatives from waste.
The Provincial government has demonstrated their ongoing support for the development of clean energy solutions in the 2018 Intention Paper, “A Clean Growth Program for Industry,” which outlines key priorities in developing a long-term clean growth strategy to power our economy while reducing GHG emissions. At Ecowaste, we are fully committed to this vision. Through our efforts, we’ll continue to divert waste, reduce GHG emissions, extend landfill life, and produce a low-carbon fuel alternative for a greener future.
